Description: Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick. What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane. Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that. What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of color. And neither of them knows they're going to change the other for all time. Review: After hearing all the raving reviews, I knew that this was a book I had to read. At first, it was (surprisingly) a bit hard for me to get invested into the story. However, once about 30 pages in, I was so emotionally invested in the story that I literally could not put it down. Lou was a fantastic character to read about. She was intelligent, maintains her values, and knows what she wants. I loved how unique she was and how she developed as a person after meeting Will. Another great aspect of this novel is the prominence of family in it. Oftentimes, we find that family will take the back burner in many novels, but this book is completely the opposite and it deeply adds to the story. It was truly an amazing experience to read this book. Obviously, I knew the main premise for this book, but I totally did not expect the extent of it and was quite shocked when I found out. However, while there were sad parts, this book was simultaneously hilarious. I lost count of how many times this book made me laugh out loud. The characters in this novel are completely unique from any other book I have read, and I can not recommend this book enough. Yes, I will admit that it is heart-wrenching, but it is such a beautiful story that I honestly believe everyone should read this novel. With that being said, if you haven't picked up this novel yet, then get to it right away! |
