Description: When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy? This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know... Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end. Review: The first time I heard about this book was actually from a friend on Wattpad a couple years ago. They had gushed about how amazing this book was and that I needed to read it as soon as possible. For some odd reason, I was like meh, I guess I'll read it another time. It wasn't until like a year after that when I actually read the book and boy was I in shock. The book was actually amazing and I was wondering why the hell I never read it earlier. Anyways, this book is an epic adventure from the very beginning. There is no slow-paced introduction where you force yourself to read just to get into the book, instead you are hooked from the first page. I can't do this book justice with this measly review so please just go read it if you haven't already because it will bring you into an entirely different realm of fangirls. The only thing I didn't like about this book was a certain plot twist at the very end of the book. I'm not bitter because there was an unexpected plot twist or anything, it's just the plot twist itself. It didn't seem believable to me in any sense and it was pretty unnecessary. Don't get me wrong, it was pretty brilliant because you don't see things like that a lot in books, but I just felt like it didn't work in this book and it was kind-of annoying reading about because I knew there was no way it was real and yeah. I'm going to stop this rant before I spoil anything for you guys (: Anyways, go read this book! Rating: 4.5/5 |
