This year was actually the first year I attended the conference as an attendee rather than an exhibitor because I usually go with my library. And let me tell you, it was a completely different experience. Rather than waiting around in the same room while people were in various sessions, I was actually able to attend the sessions. Of course being a book blogger means I have to keep up with new releases and such, but I was actually able to learn of new books that sound really interesting. The panels were fun, although I would like to see some more diverse options for them.
Each year there are two keynote authors as well as a local author panel. Both have opportunities to talk in front of everyone at the conference.
This year's keynote authors were:
Eliot Schrefer
&
Kekla Magoon
This year's author panel consisted of:
Evangeline Denmark
Chris Howard
Joshua Viola
Kate Muus
Roz Monette
My favorite keynote was definitely Eliot's. He showed videos of him visiting an ape sanctuary in Congo (which was super cute) and was really engaging. Kekla's speech didn't interest me as much. Anyways, you probably don't want to read a huge blog post about everything that happened so here are some pictures with captions instead! It was a great day and I highly recommend attending this conference if you can because it is an amazing opportunity.
