Description: Choices. Seventeen-year-old Mia is faced with some tough ones: Stay true to her first love—music—even if it means losing her boyfriend and leaving her family and friends behind? Then one February morning Mia goes for a drive with her family, and in an instant, everything changes. Suddenly, all the choices are gone, except one. And it's the only one that matters. If I Stay is a heartachingly beautiful book about the power of love, the true meaning of family, and the choices we all make. Review: I know that this is kind-of an obvious one, but I don't think people give the book itself enough credit. Yes, everyone knows the plot of the girl in the car crash and her trying to decide if she should stay or not, but not everyone knows how truly amazing this book actually is. I remember first reading the book, expecting it to be good but it exceeded expectations in ways I didn't know was possible. The book is formatted in a unique way that jumps between flashbacks and current-time, although not in a way that confuses the reader. Forman crafts each sentence beautifully; weaving words together in the perfect melody. And then, of course, there is the actual story. I knew from the beginning (like most people do) how the story was going to end and the basis of what happened in the book, but reading the actual events proved so much better than what I originally thought. Everything about this book is lovely and it is definitely one of my favourites! Rating: 5/5 |
